In search of your favorite Mango? Summers are here and so are the infinite perks of this season! Summers not only bring in much more liveliness and zest into our lives but also open up a wide variety of opportunities for us. For some it gives them the freedom to wear their favorite clothes, while for others it's that time of the year when they can cheerfully enjoy their pool parties. But for me it defines the time when I can welcome the king of fruits – mango! Words fall short when I try to describe my ineffable love for this fruit. Mango is probably the most variegated fruit of India. There are almost 500-1000 cultivars of different mangoes in the country. This huge variety not only differs in its shape, size and colour but also in its scrumptious taste. Though it is not possible to describe all the varieties, today I will talk about the most famous types of Mangoes in India. Famous mango varieties in India 1. Alphonso Also known as Hapoo, this is the most expensive variety of mangoes in India. Maharashtra, Gujarat and Karnataka are its prime producers. It has a fibreless pulp and douses into the mouth as a smooth-creamy mango. This variety of mango is popular all over the world. Season: May-June 2. Chaunsa The name was given by the Muslim Suri Emperor Sher Shah Suri. It is sweet, juicy and very nutritious. The heavenly sweet taste of this mango will make you lick up every drop of its nectar. It is mostly grown in the northern parts of India. Season: July end-August 3. Dasehri It is the oldest variety of Mangoes in India, since its origin can be traced back to almost 200 years ago. The sweet syrup of this mango makes you have at least 2-3 mangoes at a time. Uttar Pradesh is the largest producer of this variety of mangoes. Season: June-July 4. Langra   The mother tree of this variety exists in Varanasi. Since the owner of that tree was unfortunately lame, the mango was thus named as "Langra". This variety is distinctively fibrous, with a unique taste as well. It is majorly grown in Haryana, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal. Season: Mid-July to August 5. Safeda or Banganapalli These mangoes have a very beautiful yellow color and are sweet and fibreless. It is the most popular variety of mangoes which comes straight from Andhra Pradesh. Season: April to June 7.Badami Badami is Karnataka's leading mango variety. It is often called as Karnataka's own Alphonso. The reason being the taste and texture of Badami is sane as that of Alphonso. The season of Badami is from April to June.   6. Kesar This variety of mangoes is precisely consumed raw or used for making Aamrus. It comes from the Ahmedabad region of Gujarat and thus is also known as the Gujarat Kesari. It has a very intense aroma that spreads out in the entire house. Season: June-Early July 7. Neelam This is one variety that grows throughout the country. With its specialty in Hyderabad, it is a large-yielding variety of mangoes. Though it arrives early in the season, the best variety is available only in June. Season: May-July 8. Sindoora Its reddish color at the top has entitled this variety with the name of Sindoora. Extremely juicy and pulpy, this mango is one of the tastiest mangoes one can ever have. Season: Mid-May to Mid-June 9.Totapuri The huge mango with a pointed end and a thick skin is none other than Totapuri. The Totapuri mango is widely grown in south India and is highly popular in the western states including Maharashtra. It has various other names names – Bangalora,  Sandersha, Kallamai, Kili Mooku, Collector, Mukku, Gilli and Thevadiyamuthi. Heaviest mango   Who Maria Socorro Bodiongan Where Philippines Cagayan de Oro City When 27 August 2009 The heaviest mango weighed 3.435 kg (7.57 lb) and was presented by Sergio and Maria Socorro Bodiongan (Philippines) at the Sundayag Celebration's Pinaka Contest in Cagayan de Oro City, Philippines, on 27 August 2009.The mango, of the Florida Keitt variety, measured 30.48 cm (12 in) in length, 49.53 cm (19.5 in) in circumference and 17.78 cm (7 in) in width, was harvested from a tree in Mr. and Mrs. Bodiongan's front yard that yields an average of 100 larger-than-average mangos every season. Records change on a daily basis and are not immediately published online. For the most up to date record information   *************************************************************************************** AND FOR MY ADVENTUROUS FRIENDS HERE IS A MANGO COCKTAIL YOU CAN TRY. Mango flavored cocktail- Whisky tango Weekend is almost here. It's time to grab that cocktail shaker and mix up some liquid magic. How about something sweet, tangy with a punch? If you like whisky sours, this recipe i'm about to give you is sure to make it to your favorite list. Time to drink whisky and tango!       To make whisky tango, you will need, Whiskey 45 ml Mango juice 60 ml Basil leaves 3-4 Lime juice 15 ml Sugar 1 tbsp Soda water       In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, muddle basil leaves just like how you would do it or a Mojito. Add lime juice, sugar syrup and your pick of whisky. Be sure to give it a good 30 seconds shake. Transfer the contents into a tall glass. Top it up with soda water. Garnish with citrus, basil leaves or a fruit of your choice. Enjoy!     Here is to a happy gulping and a weekend filled with happiness.
