5 Places In India Where You Can Spot Tigers

India is a country where the odds of spotting a tiger are really high as compared to other countries. Believe it or not, India is home to many endangered species, out of which 1400 are big cats residing in 40 national parks. Well, 40 is a huge number!

Bandhavgarh National Park is home to more than 50 tigers. The park is spread across 100 km, and is open from October to June. However, the best time to spot a tiger is from April to June. Peak summer sounds like a bad idea, but it's during the summers that these animals tend to be around water bodies where you can easily spot them. There are other animals at the park as well, including leopard, fox, bear, deer and Indian fox. The temperature at this time is normally around 40-45 degrees Celsius. The closest airport is Jabalpur, which is 197 km from this wildlife park.

2. Ranthambore National Park, Rajasthan

Ranthambore is India's largest national park and is spread across 1,334 square kilometres. This is the most preferred national park for wildlife photographers. The park is a dry jungle though, with ancient structures giving it a rustic feel. You can easily spot tigers and leopards around these structures, but there are three lakes in the park, namely Padam Talo, Raj Talao and Milak Taleo, around which cubs and tigress tend to gather. Ranthambore is open from October to June, but if a tiger is what you want to see, go here in April and May. It's already hot in Ranthambore with temperatures reaching 35-40 degree Celsius. The nearest airport is Jaipur.
