The name is commonly taken as the female version of the name Maximus which in Latin means the greatest.  Other sites claim in South America the name is commonly taken to mean 'Miracle Worker'. Both interpretations appear to fit the couple's philanthropic mission to donate and raise money for good causes in baby Max's name. The name also has royal connections via the glamorous Queen Maxima of the Netherlands. She is the wife of King Willem Alexander and was born in Buenos Aires However, the Zuckerbergs noble pledge and royal inspiration has not deterred internet trolls from pointing out a less flattering connection to the baby name - a model of Nissan.  The Nissan Maxima is a mid-size car by the Japanese manufacturer dating baby to 1980 and predominantly built in Smyrna, Tennessee
