I have recently vsited Europe with my family. We went on our own without the help of any tour operator. You can book hotels throuh hotels.com or independent house / flat through airbnb.co.in. All railway tickets and air tickets can be booked online. You will have to do some search in internet. In most of the cities tourist buses are plying on hop on hop off basis where you can buy tickets for 24 hrs., 48 hrs. etc. and metro tickets can also be bought in similar manner.

Tour operators also book all these with your money. It will be much cheaper if you go onyour own.

Where ever we went we could meet the same 5-6 groups from India.operated by different tour operators....even the hotels we stayed were the same. The same type food (menu) is served in all hotels. The same recipe for the chicken served..same brand of pickle in all throughout the countries visited..the only difference is in the cost of the tour they charge..So it is a lucky dip...please go ahead..wish you all the best

As far as I know Cox and Kings are the best for European tour. My friends have given good feedback though I have not traveled to Europe. I wish that you go to Mouthshut.com and see reviews. You will find that almost all operators have instances of bad management during the tour and unexpected detours. But all in all i find Cox and kings to be the one which commits least mistakes.Having said that you should book it through their main offices and NOT Franchisees. Franchisees sometimes take us for a ride. Do make enquirees and find out feedback regarding tour managers which is available in review websites.ARR
