I assume that Xavier's doubts arose from the human concept of good or bad.As far as God is concerned there is no good or bad other than sin-deliberate disobedience of God's will.To explain I can give many examples.Take the case of Hellen Keller.She was blind,deaf and dumb.If she was an atheist she would have asked Why the so called person God created me like this?Instead she had a deep faith in God and Christianity.She always spoke of the joy that life gave her.She was thankful for the faults and abilitles that she did possess.Her article on what she will do if she gets sight only for a day is a literary masterpiece .Readers Digest has reprinted it in their best articles. Also read about the last words of atheists on their death beds which is available at internet.How sad were their words.

There is no point in a statement like 'the king was good' unless you specify which king it is/was that you refer to. It is the same with god. There is no point in making pompous statements about god unless you specify the god you are referring to. There are tens of thousands of gods and even more variations of the same god. Thus Christians have a version of god – trinity – which others deny. In Christianity itself there are over 40000 sects with their own version or interpretation of god – some Christian sects deny the trinity which is blasphemous to other sects. In fact if you and your wife were put in separate rooms and questioned about the attributes of the god you believe in, there will be variations. In short every believer is a blasphemer or atheist for other believers even if they profess the same religion. The difference between believers and atheists is that we believe in one god less than you do. What is more believers are hypocrites. Thus if you were to be bitten by a snake on the way to church or you fell into an accident on the way to Velankanni would you continue to the church which would be the case if you really believed in your god, or would you go to a hospital? It is the same with heaven. You wax strong about heaven and the pleasures there, but put off going to heaven as long as possible with medical treatments which would not have been the case if you really believed in heaven. Even houris do not seem to be enough of an attraction for believers in houris.
