US varsity hires `dog professor' to comfort students

A top US university has hired a `professor' to comfort stressed students and the new faculty member is a 2-year-old dog. The University of Southern California has hired a goldendoodle named Professor Beauregard Tirebiter. He has office hours, a uniform and business cards -which he has "trouble handing out".

No workers, Italy town mayor cleans streets:

Pinuccio Chelois, mayor of Italian town of Zerfaliu, has been sweeping the streets of his town after a bureaucratic blunder left the municipality with no manual workers. The final remaining worker in the Sardinian town retired six months ago.

Rich Londoners angry over Tate Modern voyeurs:

The viewing gallery in London's Tate Modern extension has awakened the voyeuristic instincts of visitors, who crowd the outdoor space to sneak a peek at the glass-walled luxury riverside flats opposite. The flats are just 20 metres away from the museum's pyramidlike extension allowing visitors to witness the daily lives of wealthy residents.

Egypt TV airs old el-Sissi interview, boss sacked:

The head of news in Egypt's state television has confirmed he was fired after the network mistakenly aired an old interview with the country's president instead of one he gave this week. Mustafa Shehata described the mix-up as a "gross error." The wrong interview was on the air for nearly 10 minutes before the transmission was halted.

Zoo serves heart-shaped meat cake at lion wedding:

Zoo keepers in the Bangladeshi town of Chittagong have thrown two lions a wedding party that included a heartshaped meat cake in the hope of drawing much-needed visitors and encouraging the animals to mate.

Italy drive against infertility stumbles on racist ad:

Italy's efforts to combat infertility and reverse one of Europe's lowest birthrates have stumbled with an ad campaign denounced as sexist, racist and ignorant of the economic reasons why Italians aren't having babies.Italy on Thursday celebrated its first-ever "Fertility Day".The flyer showed four lightskinned adults at the beach illustrating "good habits" for reproductive health, over a group of young people, including a black man, smoking.
