I am also for a caste less society and a classless society which people like Narayana Guru envisaged. But the tragedy is that over period of time, the followers forget the original message and these people are themselves converted to gods. The group of followers become a caste and a powerful pressure group. What is happening with ideals of Narayana Guru is an eye opener for those who believe in caste less and classless society. If the news from the Society is an indication, the Society is on way to support a Political Party, which day in day out works against the ideals of Narayana Guru and is creating religious and caste tensions in most of the part of the country, after they came to power.

Having said above, let us come to reservation. Inspite of our support for a caste less society, we cannot be blind to the fact that caste in India is a reality. Whether one likes or not one is borne to a caste which one's parents belong. So by birth itself a person who is born to an upper caste parents - who constitute 15% of population enjoys certain privileges He is entitled to look down upon the balance 85% of the people And majority of them look down upon. This is where we are seeing even today news about honour killings, killing people just because they entered temples, schoolsm hotels and other places of social activity, just because these people were born to a caste which the 15% consider lower. The people who are born as lower caste, has thus no control over their lives. Their lives are governed by the 15%, just because they were born in upper caste and Manu Smrithi has ordained so.

Reservation is a method and an attempt by which this injustice is attempted to be overcome. It is a method by which 85% of Indians who have lost their confidence, because of this long tradition of deciding livelihood based on caste in which one is born, are instilled to become confident and stand in the same footing like their upper caste brothers.

And a country which has 85% of population who are not confident just because of their birth in a particular community, cannot become a great power in comity of nations.

This is why reservation becomes important. A brahmin, because he is born a brahmin, is assured of greater mobility. Just because he is a brahmin, he can be the only conduit between the god and an individual, he has a large number of opportunities. He can be an astrologer, a teacher, a IT man, with huge Indian community abroad who are building temples, there is a demand for this only conduit abroad also. There is no compulsion to him at all to take up any job except the menial ones which is reserved for the lower castes. Brahmin - just by his birth enjoys all things good in life - honor, respect, nearness to god and what not. He is born intellgent. His nearness to power structure gives him a lot of benefits.

This is not so in case of lower castes. Just because they are born to that caste, they are not allowed anywhere. They cannot meet god, they cannot enter hotels. Only menial jobs are reserved for them. Each and every step of their childhood, they are made known that they are powerless. They are born to serve the Gods chosen.

To the people who have posted their personal woes of not getting govt jobs, there are hundreds of stories of the lower caste people punished just because they tried enter places of social activity. Those who mentioned their personal woes and put all the onus on reservation, should understand that inspite of being in a minortiy, you could get access to such social networks and share your woes with others and get a lot of sympathy from your own.

Remember, there are majority who cannot even imagine of having access to these tools. They have to endure these injustices day in and day out. If they protest or act any where outside the commandments put out by upper castes, murders, killings, burning of their houses is what they get in return.

Reservation has given an opportunity for those majority to gain confidence. To attain better mobility in their social status. To be considered one among the equals. Reservation has given opportunity to many of these majority Indians to enter into professions, to start their own industries - in whatever small way it might be. It is allowing India to become stronger.

There is no reservation in private sector. And in present times, with more and more importance being given to private players, upper caste has greater opportunities.

Those who mentioned their woes of not getting govt jobs, you have excellent opportunity in private sector where it is all about merit and merit only. Do not bother getting into a position lower the line. If you are merited, the company themselves will allow you to go for higher studies. Many Private Companies have seats reserved in good institutions. Once you get into these companies, you have great opportunities opened up. Why do you want to be babus in govt offices when whole lot of opportunity available in private sector for merited people like you.

That is why majority India shouts on top of voice, enough of you upper castes, you have enjoyed enough reservation all these years. Now become competitive and use your merits. Let us gain confidence through reservation and make India a great power.

I still stand by my words that the reservation should only be for economically backward children of the society whether upper caste or lower caste. I am personally experienced that children from Nair Community or Brahmin community, economically poor, obtaining very high marks in their studies, could not get even a peon post in Govt. due to reservation. Due to reservation the eligible children is neglected and they remain poor and they could not get a grip in the society. Therefore, there should not be any reservation. If reservation still persists then it should be one time for a member in a family and not for everybody. and all time. Let the reservation be equal to all , based on the economic status.

Regarding your other points that 80% jobs are occupied by the upper class. In this connection I would like to say that whatever may be the reason, people from the lower class never sent their children for education about 5 decades earlier. Only about 50 years or so they have realized the importance of education and now they are scoring in All India Services, and other elite services. Time has changed. Here, the Rich becomes richer either in upper or lower caste. We should concentrate on Middle and Lower Class people starving for money and education. There are families who cannot take both ends meet in Upper Class. Upper Class does not mean that they are rich by money. Unfortunately or fortunately, they have born in a particular family and due to caste system in India, it is said that he belongs to Upper Class. This upper class man begs sometimes for a cup of tea or one time meal. I speak about them because I have experienced.

Again intelligent children does not need any reservation. Reservation is only in Govt. Jobs. There is no reservation in private sector? There they want merit. I speak about those people. Let all children show their ability . Big big jobs are waiting for them.

Let us build a caste less society and not a deffer society.

Reservation is about distribution of opportunity or opportunities to a neglected sections of people who had been treated in an unfair manner, for centuries.All along they had been treated as dirt.

Can you compare the performances of the children of the society, having digital access to that children of the society, having no access to black boards to learn the alphabets? These neglected sections can never think of competing on the examinations designed in favour of digitally informed sections, on equal terms. That is unequal competition and not based merit (as it is perceived by most of the ill informed and half baked arm chaired persons, conveniently sitting on ivory towers)

There is no social equality and/or economic independence for 80% of people of India. The remaining 20% do extremely well. Do you want these 20% corner all the government jobs and free seats available in government or govt supported educational institutions? If it is not injustice, what else could be?

Even race horses are given an opportunity and racing gives and involves handicaps.

Majority of the so called meritorious breds royally send their parents (who paid for their education) to old age homes and gleefully ditched this country (who educated them freely or at nominal costs, including at IITs and IIMs) in the name of easy money (hard work?, pure BS) and lack of opportunities). Most of the meritorious sections never proved that they could help their own parents, leave alone their country or society.

Instead the so called inefficient lowly people (whom we failed and neglected) sought opportunities even in overseas' hell-holes like UAE and ASEAN, working in the scorching sun (and even risking their lives) keep the stoves burning back at their homes, to support their parents and children and helping our country by sending back every penny hard earned!

Anyone who oppose the reservation, even in its correct perspective deserve nothing but old age home and loneliness. Rest assured, God, if at all he is there, will do natural justice.

This is a country, where the mighty despise helpless people. It deserves its failure.
