It is learnt that *bureaucrats* turned down Non Functional Upgradation (or better known as NFU, wherein all civil services of same joining seniority are paid, after a waiting period of 2 years, at the same scale as even one person who reaches the higher designation level earliest) demand of armed forces on the pretext that NFU is applicable to "Class A" officers only.
On a lighter vein,
the Civil Services have also probably formed their opinion that
NFU cannot be applicable to the
Armed Forces as the latter are the only truly
functional 24x7x365 bastion, ensuring constant safety and security of the Nation, both from extrernal and internal threats
.Further, the bureaucrats themselves declared only IAS, IPS, IRS, IFS and other allied services are "Class A" officers, not Armed Forces Officers. This is strange as all armed forces officers, since Independence, are the only privileged ones to be given their Military Commission personally by the President of India; which, as per our Constitution, provides them an even higher status than the Class A Civil Services.

Indian bureaucracy has been
downgrading the status of our
armed forces ever since
Independence
; and it still continues to do so. The mystery remains- WHY? Why put the axe on your own legs to chop them off? Just imagine, if the Armed Forces are demoralised and feel dishonored, do you think the next generation would be willing to join the Forces and lay down their life to defend their Nation, when the time comes to make the supreme sacrifice?
