Why not go for a simple registered marriage with a small public ceremony for friends and relatives to wish the couple.
The balance money which you plan to spend on wedding can be donated to a organization doing good work on health care.
However, do inform us your final decision. We are curious how the marriage was finally conducted.

If both the boy and girl and their families agree, it will be nice and memorable to have the wedding conducted in the Christian way. The idea is not to impose faith to the Chinese but to retain what the girl has. Any way both could continue their own ways after the marriage or the boy to embrace girl's faith. Children could follow either way.
Wedding is ceremony is more of tradition and culture. So it is better to have the best of both. So have two ceremonies one Malayaly and another Chinese.
All the best wishes for happy Wedding.
