Dear fellow-Malayalis
It is amusing that what started off as a claim that the Holy Qu'ran does not contain a single verse promoting terrorism has now descended to the wild and emotional accusation that all religions promote terrorism.
"No religion is free from terrorism," screams Kasthuri N Ravilla, who claims he is "qualified" to say so as he is in his late sixties.
And Shri B.J. Shastry of Supply & Support Service Systems Co Ltd (4S CTPL DIVISION) P.O. Box 1557 Al Khobar. KINGDOM OF SAUDI ARABIA, enthusiastically applauds and "totally agrees".
There has todate been no adequate response to my query:-
"Are there not other great not-so-secret truths, other wars being waged today by Koran-wielding Muslims against other Koran-wielding Muslims throughout the world?
What about the wars against Shias, Ahmaddiyas, Bahais, and other pious followers of the Holy Book?"
Please note that "Muslim Malaysia" is the latest follower of the Holy Book that has outlawed, banned, and is hunting down the small but long-established Shia community, and seeks to extirpate them from the face of the Earth.
Let's start from deducing that both Shri Kasthuri N Ravilla and Shri B J Shastry either explicitly or by necessary implication fully admit that the religion of Islam IS NOT free from terrorism. In other words it is a religion of terrorism. And rightfully so. The pretended modern-day Caliph who calls himself "Mohanad" does not deny this, either.
Is Buddhism a religion of terror?
Does the Dhammapada ask its followers to be suicide-bombers and blow up innocent Muslims? Or, does it say:-
(1) Dhammam sharanam gachchaami - let me always seek refuge in performing acts of charity and compassion.
(2) sabbe tasanti dandassa sabbe bhaayanti maccuno
sabbesam jeevitam piyam
attaanaam upamam katvaa na hanyeyya na ghaataye
Meaning, all tremble at violence, all fear death, putting oneself in the place of another, one should not kill, nor cause another to kill.
yambi saccam cha dhammo cha AHIMSA sannamo damo
sa ve vantamalo dheero thero ti pavucchati
Meaning, in whom there is truth and dhamma, harmlessness, restraint, control, who has ejected the stains, and is wise - he indeed is called "Elder".
Is Jainism a religion of terror?
Do the thirthankaras ask their followers to to be suicide-bombers and blow up innocent Muslims?
Or, do they say that every life is precious, sacred, and equal to every other life, that you should not even step on ants when you walk, should wear a mask or fine net over your nose and mouth so that you do not accidentally and unintentionally breathe in and kill little insects?
Is Hinduism a religion of terror?
Do the Hindu Holy Books say:-
(1) Let noble thoughts come to us from every direction;
(2) Let well-being and prosperity attend to all two-footed creatures and to all four-footed creatures; let there be peace, peace, peace!
(3) All sentient beings, including man, belong to one inter-dependent God-created family; let there be peace, peace, peace!
(4) May all in this world prosper; may all in this world have good health; may all in this world have long life; peace, peace, peace! Ohm, Amen, Ameen!
Is Taoism a religion of terror?
Where in the great "I Ching" or in the great "Tao Te Ching" is the idea enshrined? Where in Sun Tzu"s "Art of War" does it say you should terrorise non- Taoists (or even fellow-Taoists)?
Rather, do not the texts show that stern commandments would go against the nature of Taoism ("The Way"), that it does offer recommendations about how to live, which recomnmendations do not have a divine origin, but come from nature, the model of balance and harmony. The recommendation most often mentioned is "no action", which cn be rendered as "no strain" and "effortlessness". Nature works to accomplishb only what is necessry: no more. So should humans.
Because Taoists pursue the gentle way, they hate weapons and war. The wise person loves peace and restraint and avoids all unnecessary violence.
One or two contributors have suggested that all the Qu'ranic quotes so far cited, i.e. 9.5, 9.29, 9.30, 3.151, 9.14, 8.60, 47.4 & 5, 2.191, 9.73, 9.123, 7.72, 7.93 & 96, 9.11, 33.26, 34.61, 42.41, 75.40, 90.20, 92.13 are all to be rejected either because they are incomplete, or the translator has erred.
While I do not presume to speak for Arhata Osho, let me emphasise that my own sources, whoich I have checked and cross-checked, are impeccable.
They are, for example, learned Muslims born in Baghdad, educated in the United Kingdom, whose first English-language translation of the Qu'ran was published in 1956 and sold over one million copies. Others are converts from Christianity, born in the United Kingdom, taught by Sheykh-ul-Ulema of the great mosque at Damascus, travelled extensively throughtout the Middle East, wanted to convert to Islam at age of nineteen, but were restrained by their Muslim teacher so as not to hurt their widowed mother, but converted when they were thirty-nine, when they were close allies of the Ottoman Empire.
Others were reputable Indonesian/Malaysian scholars educated in Cambridge, United Kingdom, who had published several books about Islam including Arabic-English dictionaries, and had a deep and capacious knowledge of the religion. Non-English sources included local versions published by Muslim scholars in Indian regional languages.
