[World Malayali Club] Squirrel Musicians

I Shoot Squirrels With Tiny Musical Instruments Through My Kitchen Window

by Geert Weggen

Some years ago, squirrels started to come in my garden. I decided to build anoutside studio from my balcony and started to shoot photos from my kitchen window. Some days sometimes 6 squirrels visit me.

This half year I worked on a children book, "Squirrel Teaching You The Alphabet", and was confronted with some letters like an object starting with an "X". That became a squirrel photo with a xylophone. From there I started doing a series of squirrel photos with music instruments. It took months to get some music instruments with the right size. I try to bring some magic, wonder and happiness with my work, these are real photos. Sometimes I take away a wire or some food, and sometimes I stack 2 photos from the same scene.

Meanwhile, I have been published in about 25 newspapers. Articles about my work have appeared on the internet in about 100 countries. 3 books are published, also postcards and a calendar. My work has been published in magazines, such as National Geographic, Digitalfoto, etc. and won many awards and prices. On this moment I am a finalist in Smithsonian.com where from 46000 1 of my squirrel photos is selected. Some of my works are published in other books. Still after shooting photos almost full time I still cannot make a complete living of it.

[World Malayali Club] Van Gogh Animations

Loving Vincent: Animated Story Of Van Gogh's Last Days In 12 Oil Paintings Per Second By Over 100 Painters

 by Dainius

Did you know that "Loving Vincent" will be the world's first feature length painted animation, with every shot painted with oil paints on canvas, just as Van Gogh himself painted? Directed by the classically trained Dorota Kobiela and based out of Poland, over 100 painters were needed to create the film's 12 oil paintings per-second animation. According to IMDB, the film should be released sometime this year.

"Loving Vincent is an investigation delving into the life and controversial death of Vincent Van Gogh, one of the world's most beloved painters, as told through his paintings and by the characters that inhabit them," reads the film synopsis. "The intrigue unfolds through interviews with the characters closest to Vincent and through dramatic reconstructions of the events leading up to his death."

This Is What Passengers Have Done To Modi's Mahamana Express In Just 1 Week

It was as recent as January 22 when Narendra Modi flagged off the all new Mahamana Express, the superfast train that would ply between Delhi and Varanasi in just 14 hours.

Named after Benaras Hindu University co-founder Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya - popularly known as Mahamana or a 'great human being' - the Mahamana Express is touted as the first major upgrade in facilities and design of passenger trains in India.

But it seems like the passengers needed just one week to take the train from swanky to stinky.

These photos from Dainik Bhaskar show the train in an utterly deplorable condition:

The next time we want to blame the authorities about something, let's think of this. What about all the things we do? We as citizens should be ashamed of ourselves if this is how we're going to treat public property. Especially a brand new train that is supposed to herald a new-line of superfast trains.
